TenniStrike Privacy Policy
Last updated: 24 September 2026
TenniStrike (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a tennis match‑scoring app. It keeps score, broadcasts matches live to viewers on the web, builds player careers and club leaderboards, and sends you alerts about the players and clubs you follow. This policy explains what information the app handles and why. We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run these features. We do not show ads, and we do not use advertising or analytics/tracking SDKs.
Who we are
TenniStrike is an independent app operated by Ran Anijar. For any privacy question or request, contact us at ran@ranster.com.
Information the app handles
- Account information (only if you sign in). Watching and private scoring need no account. To broadcast a match live, keep a career, follow players or use coach features, you sign in with Google Sign‑In, Sign in with Apple (iOS) or an email and password. We then store your email address, your display name, the country you play in (suggested from your device’s locale, editable in Settings) and your UI language. If you don’t sign in, the app uses a random anonymous identifier that isn’t tied to your name or email.
- Player records. A player on a club roster or a country list has a name, birth year (or, optionally, full birth date), gender (boy/girl, used only to place the player in an age group such as U14G), country, club and optionally playing hand. Records are entered by a coach, an organiser, or by the player (13 or over) or the player’s parent when they add themselves.
- Player links, club roles and requests. A signed‑in account can be linked to one player record, request to join or change a club, or request coach access to a club. We store the link, its verification status, the club, and who approved it. A coach can create a club, invite players by link, and add or import players to its roster.
- Match content. Player names, the format, optional tournament, competition and place, the age category, and any player photo you attach on your device (photos stay on the device; they are not uploaded).
- Scoring data. Points, games, sets, faults, medical timeouts, code violations, the timing of every point, and the statistics derived from them, including the game‑by‑game match report.
- Confirmations. When a match names your linked player, you (or your coach) confirm it before it counts for your career; we store who confirmed and when.
- Follows and alert settings. The players and clubs you follow, which alert types you turned on, and your quiet hours. Alerts are generated on your phone from data the app already reads; we do not run a push‑notification service and do not store device push tokens.
- Subscription status (Pro). If you buy TenniStrike Pro, the purchase is made through Google Play (or the App Store). We receive only the entitlement (active or not, until when) and an anonymous purchase identifier; we never see your card or payment details.
- Live‑viewer presence. While someone watches a live match, a temporary, anonymous “is‑watching” signal is recorded so the match can show a viewer count. It contains a timestamp and a random viewer identifier and expires shortly after viewing stops.
- On‑device data. Your scored matches, player profiles and photos, alert settings and language are kept on your device so the app works offline. They stay until you remove them or uninstall the app.
- Crash reports. If the Android app crashes, a report with the stack trace, device model, OS version, app version and a random installation identifier is sent to Firebase Crashlytics so we can fix the bug. It contains no names, scores, email or account details, and is not collected from the development build or the web.
- Usage statistics (optional). The Android app counts a few anonymous events through Google Analytics for Firebase: that the app was opened for the first time, that an account was created, that a match was scored or broadcast, and that Pro was purchased, together with the device model, OS and app version, the country and a random app‑instance identifier. No names, email addresses, scores or match content are included. We use it to see which features are used and which of our ads bring people to the app. In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland nothing is collected unless you choose “Allow” when asked; everywhere you can turn it off at any time in Settings → Usage statistics. We never use it to personalise ads to you.
- Security signals. To protect the service from abuse, requests to our database carry a Firebase App Check token (Play Integrity on Android, reCAPTCHA on the web). It attests that the request comes from a genuine copy of the app; it does not identify you.
The app does not collect your phone number, contacts, precise location, or device advertising identifiers, and contains no advertising and no analytics or tracking SDKs.
Players named in matches, including youth players
TenniStrike scores and publishes tennis results, including in youth age categories (under‑12 through under‑18). The names, birth years, age groups and results of players — including minors — are part of the public sporting record of a club or tournament, the way an official draw or results sheet is published. They are entered by coaches, organisers and scorers, by parents on behalf of their child, or by players aged 13 and over on their own behalf.
If you are a player, parent, guardian, coach or organiser and you want a player’s name, details or results corrected or removed, contact us at ran@ranster.com and we will act on it.
Live and published matches are public by design. When you broadcast a match live, or a result is published under a club or tournament, the information entered — player names, country, age group, tournament/place, the running score, statistics and the match report — is publicly viewable by anyone with the match link and appears in public lists, brackets, careers and club pages. Please avoid entering information you do not want to be public.
How the information is used
- To run scoring and show live matches to viewers.
- To display match history, results, brackets, player careers and club leaderboards.
- To keep your matches tied to your account across devices, and to provide coach, club and administrator features to the accounts entitled to them.
- To verify that a result belongs to the player it names before it counts.
- To show you the alerts you asked for, on your own phone.
- To apply the free plan’s monthly limit on live broadcasts, and to honour a Pro subscription.
- To show how many people are currently watching a live match.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.
Product‑update emails (optional, opt‑in)
If you are signed in, you can choose to receive occasional product‑update emails from us — turn it on from the account menu on the web, or from Settings in the app. This is off by default; we only email people who have opted in. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also turn it off any time from the same toggle. We do not sell your email address or share it for anyone else’s marketing.
Sharing and service providers
We do not sell or rent your data. Beyond the public visibility described above, we share data only with the service providers that run the app on our behalf:
- Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore, Firebase Authentication, App Check, Hosting, Crashlytics, Google Analytics for Firebase) stores match, player, account, viewer and crash‑report data on Google’s infrastructure on our behalf. See Google’s Firebase Privacy and Security information.
- Google Play Billing and the App Store process Pro purchases. Payment details stay with the store.
- RevenueCat validates purchases with the store and tells us whether a subscription is active. It receives an anonymous app‑user identifier and the purchase receipt, not your name or email. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
- Cloudflare runs the small service that receives RevenueCat’s subscription events and records the entitlement in our database.
- Brevo (email delivery) sends the optional product‑update emails to users who opted in, and handles unsubscribe requests, on our behalf. It only receives the email addresses of people who opted in.
- Google Sign‑In and Sign in with Apple authenticate you if you choose them; your use of them is subject to the Google Privacy Policy and Apple Privacy Policy.
Data retention
- Matches you create remain until they are deleted from the app or web.
- Player records remain while they are part of a club roster or career, and until a coach, the player, a parent or we remove them.
- Account, link, follow, alert and subscription records remain while your account exists, and until you delete the account or ask us to.
- Live‑viewer presence signals are transient and expire automatically shortly after viewing stops.
- Usage statistics are kept by Google Analytics for 14 months and then deleted.
- Data stored on your device stays until you remove it or uninstall the app.
- Our database is backed up daily; backups are kept for 30 days and then deleted.
Your choices and deleting your data
- Delete a match: remove any match you created from the app’s match list or the web scoring page.
- Unlink or change your player, leave a club, unfollow, turn alerts off: all from Home and Settings in the app, or from the web app.
- Delete your account and associated data: use the self‑serve page at tennistrike.web.app/delete-account.html to sign in and permanently delete your account, profile, links, follows and the matches you created. You can also email ran@ranster.com from your account’s address and we will do it for you.
- Usage statistics: switch off at any time in the app under Settings → Usage statistics; nothing more is sent from that phone.
- Cancel Pro: subscriptions are managed and cancelled in Google Play or the App Store.
- Remove a player’s name, details or results (including a youth player’s): contact us as described above.
Security
Data is stored on Google’s infrastructure and transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connections. Access to non‑public data is restricted by security rules to the account that owns it, to the coach of the player’s club where the feature requires it, and to administrators. Requests must carry a valid App Check token. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Children
TenniStrike is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly let anyone under 13 create an account. A child under 13 does not add themselves as a player: the app asks who the player is, and a player younger than 13 is added and linked by a parent or coach, whose account remains the account. Players aged 13 and over may add themselves and link their own account. A youth player may also be named in a match by the adult running it. If you believe a child’s information has been included in a way you did not agree to, contact ran@ranster.com and we will remove it promptly.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
